Blade Runner – Blade Hi gain Humbucker – Doomfred signature

The Blade Runner is a set of Hi-Gain Blade Humbucker pickups, developed in collaboration with Frédéric Patte-Brasseur, aka DoomFred. Fréréric is a well-known guitarist on the French and European metal scene that he has been riding for 20 years, also a luthier based in Mantes-la-Ville since 2019. As his artist name suggests, Fred plays Doom Metal, and he serves as such in no less than 5 groups: Ataraxie, Conviction, Funeralium, Mourning Dawn and Stabwound. During the exchange phase before the 1st tests, we notably mentioned Black Sabbath and his iconic guitarist Tony Iommi as well as Dave Murray of Iron Maiden, for the precision and clarity of his solos in the neck position. The bet was on: make a Hi-gain microphone, which can withstand big distortions, both with the bridge pickup and the neck pickup, tone while keeping precision and articulation.

A pickup for Metal, all Metal, and even a little more

We went with a blade type humbucker pickup, for the look, for the sound and for the undeniable advantage they offer:

• they can be installed on any type of guitar, whatever the bridge and the spacing of the strings.
• There is never a loss of power, volume, during the bends that we like so much.
• The bridge pickup is equipped with a Ceramic 8 magnet, thicker than standard size magnets. This brings power and highs to support a very muscular coil, full of body. The bass is powerful while remaining precise even with a very low tuning. Grain is quite simply devastating.
  The neck pickup, also collects distortions without problem with less bass, a good precision in the treble and the right amount of medium for solos that break through in the mix without problem. This neck pickup has the particularity of being able to be installed both in the neck and in the bridge for a result, slightly less powerful but full of personality.

  A devastating look

  The pickup, made and wound by hand in Normandy, is equipped with an open cover that protects the coil (the fragile and vital part) while respecting the sound of the microphone. This hood, chrome, cosmo black or gold, together with the rails brings an original and unique touch to this set.
  Installing a Blade Runner set on your guitar will bring you more than a simple pickup upgrade, it will radically transform your instrument into a bombshell with uncompromising looks and sound.
