The linear potentiometer is intended to be used for tone of electric guitars and basses. It can also be used for volume if you want a completely linear progression of the level. CTS is the reference in terms of potentiometer for electric guitar electronics. The rotation is fluid, the start and end of the stroke are firm, no sputtering and the sound is faithfully transmitted. They are available in several heights to fit every electric guitar. The short versions (6.5mm) are suitable for pickguards up to 3mm or very thin tops. The “no-load” version completely cuts the potentiometer from the circuit when it is at 10. It is an economical alternative to “Treble Bleed”, even if the result is not quite the same. Turning off the tone of the circuit reduces the impact on the sound, especially when lowering the guitar volume. The sound becomes less dark.
