The CTS 500k linear potentiometers are designed for tone control. You can also use them as volume controls if you want a smooth, gradual increase in volume. CTS is the benchmark for potentiometers in electric guitar electronics. They offer smooth rotation, firm start and end points, no crackling, and faithful sound reproduction. They are available in various heights to suit every electric guitar. The shorter versions (6.5mm) are suitable for pickguards up to 3mm thick or very thin tops. The standard 9.5mm potentiometers are ideal for all types of guitars with a top thickness of 4 to 7mm. Finally, the taller 19mm potentiometers are for Gibson Les Pauls since 1977.
With a value of 500K, this potentiometer will be the ideal companion for passive humbucker or PAF dual coils of any brand: Seymour Duncan, Dimarzio, Lollar, Lindy Fralin, Hepcat, SP Custom, Tornade MS and Cecca of course!
The choice between vintage and modern potentiometers depends on your playing style. A vintage potentiometer reaches 15% of its maximum volume at 5 (halfway up the potentiometer's travel). A modern potentiometer, on the other hand, will reach 20% of its maximum volume at 5.
Kill two birds with one stone and remember to order the electronic components for your guitar when you change your pickups !
