CTS is the benchmark for volume potentiometers for electric guitar electronics. The rotation is smooth, the start and end of the travel are firm, there's no crackling, and the sound is faithfully reproduced. They are available in several heights to suit every electric guitar. The shorter versions (6.5mm) are suitable for pickguards up to 3mm thick or very thin tops. The standard-size 9.5mm potentiometers are ideal for all types of guitars with a top thickness of 4 to 7mm. The choice between vintage and modern potentiometers depends on your playing style. A vintage potentiometer reaches 15% of its maximum volume at 5 (halfway up the potentiometer's travel). A modern potentiometer, on the other hand, will reach 20% of its maximum volume at 5.
