It is by far the most widely used magnet in electric guitar pickup manufacturing. It boasts a significant magnetic force (between 950 and 1100 Gauss for a magnet of this size). The bass and treble are well-defined, and the midrange is scooped and very clear. Sustain is slightly reduced due to its strong magnetic force. Alnico 5 can be used with all sizes and types of copper wire and handles overwinding without issue. Finally, it performs equally well in vintage and modern styles, depending on the amplifier you plug it into. It is used in most modern and Hot Vintage humbuckers. Numerous famous pickups from all manufacturers use it. To name just a few: the JB (SH-4), the '59 (SH-1), the Sentient, the Pegasus, and many others from Seymour Duncan. Gibson offers the Burstbucker Pro, the 498T, and the Angus Young model. DiMarzio features, among others, the Air Classic and the new Fortitude signature Gojira Joe Duplantier.
