Heritage Charlie – Humbucker sized Charlie Christian

This "Heritage Charlie" is inspired by the 1970s Charlie Christian humbucker reissues. It's essentially a P90 pickup with a single rail instead of a six-screw mounting system. The advantages of the rail are well-established. It provides more inductance, resulting in increased bass, low-midrange, and power, allowing for a lighter winding. A smaller winding also offers greater dynamics and enhanced treble. This pickup, despite having a relatively low resistance compared to a standard P90, delivers the power of a vintage P90 but with more bass, more headroom in clean tones, and ample gain. The attack is crisp, very twangy when pushed, and very much like a single-coil pickup.

The two raw Alnico wires chosen for this set—Alnico 3 for the neck and Alnico 4 for the bridge—give it a purely vintage character.
The neck pickup has deep, warm bass and singing treble. It will delight blues and jazz enthusiasts, as well as grunge and indie guitarists who love fuzz. The bridge pickup, with its longer winding and more powerful magnets, delivers a full, purely organic sound. Very dynamic, it can nevertheless handle significant levels of distortion. It will take you into the realms of pure, hard rock, stoner, doom, and even punk. The adjective that best characterizes this pickup set is certainly: organic!
