Forged for modern metal. Cut for precision.

The concept

Phobos was born from a simple yet radical requirement: every note must exist, even in the depths of the lowest tunings. Designed specifically for guitarists working in the realms of modern, technical, and progressive metal, this humbucker set places note definition and articulation at the heart of its philosophy—where many pickups falter, Phobos perseveres.

Bridge pickup — Controlled power

The Phobos bridge pickup features a deliberately moderate winding, a conscious design choice. Where others seek raw saturation by adding extra windings, Phobos preserves the natural dynamics of your playing: your attack, your touch, your sonic intention remain intact, even under heavy distortion.

It's the ceramic magnet #8 that completes the equation, providing power, clarity in the bass, and that sharp attack characteristic of modern tones. The result is a bridge pickup that combines qualities rarely found together:

  • Warm — a presence in the midrange that avoids sterile coldness
  • Powerful — an output level suitable for modern amplifiers and preamps
  • Precise — each note of a complex riff stands out distinctly
  • Dynamic — responsive to the game, it responds to your nuances

Handheld microphone — The French Air Force reinvented

The Phobos neck pickup is based on a PAF design—that legendary architecture renowned for its openness and musicality—into which a ceramic magnet has been integrated. This unexpected combination transforms the classic PAF into something more incisive, more defined, without sacrificing its soul.

In practical terms, this means:

  • An open and airy microphone, which lets your phrasing breathe
  • Surgical precision even in the sleeve position, often sacrificed on the altar of heat
  • Minimal distortion is needed for your playing to sound great — ideal for expressive lead passages
  • Crystal-clear tones of remarkable purity, perfect for acoustic intros or clean passages

Assembly & Compatibility

For modern direct mount guitars, opt for the flat baseplate to achieve a clean installation and maximum transmission of vibrations to the body of the instrument.

Phobos is designed to operate in extreme conditions:

  • Very low tuning (Drop A, G#…) ✅✅✅
