A humbucker pickup for Heavy Metal
The Sunset Paradise is a humbucker set developed for NeoGeoFanatic, according to his specifications. A big fan of Future Rage pickups, which he plays daily on his Flamel Arsenic Standard, Neo wanted something a little different for his signature set. He specifically wanted a pickup that was a bit less powerful, and above all, more organic. The challenge was set, and the Sunset Paradise was born. The neck pickup is heavily inspired by Gibson PAFs from the early 1960s.
It's both airy and smooth thanks to the Alnico 4 magnet, which adds an organic touch. It's perfect for pure, gritty blues, jazz, but also for distorted sweep picking and solos. The bridge pickup, meanwhile, is a slightly lower-wound version of the Future Rage bridge pickup, also with an Alnico 4 magnet instead of a 5. The result is a slightly less direct, more organic pickup (that's the key word for this set!) that takes us from 80s metal to today's shredding, of which Neo is one of the current masters.
